Demo centre

Project description

The FVG territory hosts lots of small and medium ICT enterprises that develop advanced technologies in specific market niches.

Niche technological solutions impose a very different marketing policy from mass marketing, including the demonstration of one's own skills and of the effectiveness of one's solutions. This requires high infrastructure costs in terms of systems and connectivity, which are typically difficult to meet thus making such activities uneasy to perform by small and micro enterprises.

Furthermore, the innovation of one's solutions is the result of sharing and integrating technologies, albeit very different, which when together produce an actual added value for companies.

Considering these needs, and in view of the competitive development of the ICT companies of the District and outside the District, the need emerged for a physical place giving the opportunity to:

  • experiment the integration of technologies/solutions developed by different companies in order to offer a higher level solution;
  • present one's own solutions to potential, both local and international, both public and private customers;
  • use the services also in remote mode from one's own offices;
  • launch prototyping developments of solutions based on new technologies;
  • Test and integrate one's own technologies.

These needs lead to the development of the ICT Demo Centre project, namely a physical place in which companies can share projects and launch on the market an integrated solution, presenting the main solutions, their potentials with application and integration examples both for the public and the private sector.

Demonstration workstations were activated in the Demo Centre, based in the Technology and Science Park in Udine, with installed operative simulation programs for applications concerning safety at work, virtual design.... Innovative solutions and alternatives to commonly known solutions can be demonstrated on the machines of the Demo Centre using OpenSource software, owned or mixed owned-OS.

Objectives:

Create a place in which companies and institutions can:

  • benefit from the work of expert technicians able to demonstrate the advantages deriving from the current or prospective use of the programs available to the companies of the District;
  • work together for the achievement of new solutions;
  • present the main solutions of the companies of the district and of the territory;
  • present the potentials of solutions with application and integration examples both for the public and the private sector;
  • support the development potential of ICT companies in order to attract national and international investors.
