Tecnoteca srl
Tecnoteca was founded in 2000 by a group of professionals mainly educated at the University of Udine in the early years of the graduate degree in Computer Science, who bet on open source technologies, which had appeared on the ICT market in that period. After having gained strong skills on such typology of tools over the years, the company currently deals with the development of web applications, system and project advice finalized to support their own customers in the use and integration of the most valid and mature open source solutions available.
In the field of web application development Tecnoteca operates particularly in the design and production of CMS / DMS systems (internet web portals, intranet and documental management), both with Zope / Plone technology and with Java technology by means of OpenCMS (CMS), Alfresco (DMS) and Liferay (Portal). Such solutions are mainly used by the local PA (numerous Municipal bodies in Triveneto and Lombardy), generally responsive to the technical and licence advantages of free software.
In association with the Municipality of Udine, Tecnoteca has developed the CMDBuild project, finalized to support the management of IT objects and services used by the ICT department of any organization and drive the control processes according to the ITIL “best practice”. The application, developed with Java technology and released with open source licence, is used with the support of Tecnoteca (“maintainer” of the project) by many important public and private bodies on the entire country and is object of interest in organizations of other European countries.
Tecnoteca is founding member of CIRS, the first Italian league of companies operating in the free software and open source sector, in which it performs technical-trading activities in cooperation with other partnering companies. The company plays an active role in the open source software scenario, both with the public release of tools and solutions and with the arrangement of information activities on this topic.
